In a significant blow to the illegal drug trade, police operatives successfully arrested a package worker classified as a high-value individual and confiscated a substantial amount of suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation in Iloilo City. The operation took place in Barangay Magsaysay, City Proper District, on November 26, 2025, around 11:45 p.m.

Details of the Operation and Arrest

Authorities identified the suspect as alias Bong Bong, 47, a package worker and temporary resident of the City Proper area. The coordinated effort involved multiple police units, leading to the recovery of critical evidence from the suspect.

The items seized during the operation included:

  • 13 heat-sealed sachets of suspected shabu with a total weight of approximately 130 grams.
  • The marked buy-bust money used in the undercover transaction.
  • Several other non-drug related items.

Police Commendation and Legal Consequences

Police Brigadier General Josefino Ligan, the regional director of the Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO 6), praised the operating teams for their successful mission. He stated that this accomplishment underscores their firm dedication to protecting communities from the dangers of illegal substances and serves as a clear warning that offenders will face the full force of the law.

The suspect is currently under police custody and will face formal complaints for violations of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
