Authorities in Mandaue City, Cebu, have launched a probe into the unsettling discovery of a deceased Australian national inside a local pension house on New Year's Day.

Body Discovered in Advanced State

The lifeless body of Kevin Parrat, an Australian of legal age, was found in the early hours of January 1, 2026. Personnel from Mandaue City Police Station 1 rushed to Maanyag Pension on F.B. Cabahug Street in Barangay Guizo after receiving a report.

Officers located the victim in Room 212L, lying on his bed. The grim scene was marked by an advanced state of decomposition, leading investigators to conclude that Parrat had passed away a significant time before being found around 5:30 a.m.

Police Investigation Underway

According to Mandaue City Police Office spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Mercy Villaro, the incident was formally logged with the police at 10:30 a.m., several hours after the initial discovery. The exact cause of death is currently undetermined as authorities await forensic results.

Investigators have coordinated with the Mandaue City Forensic Unit 7 to meticulously process the scene. Evidence collected is crucial for piecing together a timeline of events and ultimately determining what led to Parrat's death.
