Health Secretary Teodoro “Ted” Herbosa is currently on sick leave following a knee replacement surgery, confirmed by Department of Health (DOH) spokesperson Undersecretary Albert Domingo. Domingo stated that the sick leave began on July 6.

Successful Operation and Recovery

According to Domingo, the surgery was successful and Herbosa is now undergoing physical therapy and rehabilitation. In a Facebook post, Herbosa shared a photo of himself wearing a shirt that read “New knee, new me.”

Interim Leadership at DOH

During Herbosa’s leave, Domingo is serving as Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the DOH. Domingo clarified that appointing the chief of staff as OIC is a standard procedure when the secretary is temporarily unable to perform duties, and it ends immediately upon the secretary’s return. Domingo did not specify when Herbosa is expected to resume his duties.
