Ex-Convict Nabbed in Cebu Buy-Bust with P1.1M Shabu, Named IT Park Supplier
Ex-convict arrested in Cebu with P1.1M shabu

Authorities in Cebu City have rearrested a former convict alleged to be a major supplier of illegal drugs in the bustling IT Park area. The suspect was caught in an entrapment operation led by the Mabolo Police Station.

Major Drug Bust Nets High-Value Target

The operation took place on the evening of Monday, December 29, 2025, in Sitio Univille, Barangay Banilad. The apprehended individual is John Paul Agang Nadela, alias "Janjan," 41 years old, a resident of the area.

During the arrest, operatives from the Mabolo Drug Enforcement Unit confiscated approximately 165 grams of suspected shabu. The illegal drugs have an estimated street value of P1.1 million.

Return to Crime After Prison Release

Investigation by the Mabolo Police Station revealed that Nadela's name surfaced as a significant player after his recent release from the Mandaue City Jail last year. Upon regaining his freedom, he reportedly returned to his old trade of selling shabu.

His alleged area of operation covered a wide range of locations in Cebu City, including:

  • IT Park in Barangay Apas
  • Paradise in Kasambagan
  • The entirety of Barangay Banilad and adjacent barangays

After gathering sufficient intelligence, police immediately launched the buy-bust operation that led to his capture.

Follow-Up Operations and Charges Filed

During interrogation, the suspect claimed his source of the illegal drug supply was an inmate currently detained at the Mandaue City Jail, identified as Nolly Pogoy, alias "Nolnol".

In response, the Mabolo Police Station has already coordinated with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Mandaue for a follow-up investigation and potential operation inside the jail facility.

The seized shabu has been turned over to the Philippine National Police (PNP) Forensic Unit 7 for chemical analysis to confirm its composition.

Meanwhile, the police are preparing to file charges against Nadela for violations of Section 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
