The Office of the Vice President (OVP) made a significant stop in the City of Smiles, launching a special pop-up exhibition to celebrate its 90th anniversary at Robinsons Mall Bacolod on Monday, November 24, 2025.
Financial Boost for Local Entrepreneurs
The event served as a platform for tangible support, with at least 20 beneficiaries from various local government units across Negros Occidental receiving financial assistance. Each beneficiary was granted P15,000 through the OVP's Mag Negosyo Ta 'Day (MTD) program, providing a crucial boost for their small business ventures.
A Journey Through Vice-Presidential History
Dubbed “Extra + Ordinary: Vice Presidents of the Philippines,” the exhibit marks a first in the office's nine-decade history. OVP Spokesperson, Lawyer Ruth Castelo, emphasized that this is the first time such an extensive historical showcase has been mounted since the OVP was institutionalized on November 15, 1935.
The pop-up exhibit highlights the achievements and contributions of all 14 vice presidents of the Philippines, including the current Vice President, Sara Duterte. According to Castelo, this forms part of the OVP's year-long journey to bring the office's rich legacy and history to different parts of the country.
A Nationwide Tour and Local Support
Following its run in Bacolod, where it will be open to the public until December 5, 2025, the exhibit is scheduled to travel to other regions. Castelo confirmed that Vice President Sara Duterte is committed to continuing this exhibition throughout her term.
The launch was a notable gathering, attended by various local officials from Negros Occidental, underscoring the community's support for this historic and empowering initiative from the national government.
