In a significant victory for law enforcement, operatives from the Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) confiscated a substantial quantity of suspected shabu valued at approximately P782,000 during a targeted buy-bust operation in Bacolod City on January 4, 2026.

Operation Details and Arrest

The successful sting took place in Purok Magtiayon, Barangay 10, Bacolod City. Authorities apprehended a 30-year-old individual known by the alias "Jan," a resident of the area who was identified as a high-value drug personality. According to Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong, chief of the PRO-NIR Public Information Office, the operation was executed by the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) Drug Enforcement Unit.

Malong explained that the operation was launched based on verified intelligence from a confidential informant. The tip indicated that the suspect was actively involved in selling illegal drugs within the community. Investigators discovered that the individual was allegedly using a sari-sari store as a front for the illicit trade, where customers could discreetly purchase shabu.

Evidence Recovered

During the arrest, police officers recovered several plastic sachets containing the suspected illegal substance. The confiscated drugs had a total weight of 115 grams. Authorities also secured the marked money used in the undercover transaction, providing crucial evidence for the case.

Lieutenant Colonel Malong emphasized that this operation highlights the unwavering resolve of PRO-NIR in its fight against illegal drugs. She described the campaign as relentless, uncompromising, and driven by solid intelligence work, which is being effectively implemented on the ground by the BCPO.

She further stated that through sustained, coordinated, and decisive actions, PRO-NIR remains committed to dismantling drug networks and neutralizing high-value targets across the Negros Island Region. The agency aims to send a clear and resounding message that illegal drug activities will not be tolerated and will face firm and relentless enforcement at all times.
