Severed Infant's Head Found in Minglanilla

A horrifying discovery has shaken the community of Barangay Campo 7 in Minglanilla, Cebu, after a dog was seen carrying what was later confirmed to be the severed head of a newborn infant.

Shocking Discovery on a Monday Afternoon

The incident occurred on the afternoon of Monday, January 5, 2026, in Purok 10, Lubas 1. Joecio Enriquez Obcial, 54, was the first to witness the disturbing scene around 2:00 PM. Initially, Obcial thought the animal was carrying a toy or some food as it approached his house from the lower part of the road.

"It was only here that I clearly saw it was a child's head when the dog dropped it in front of my house," Obcial recounted. He immediately alerted the authorities.

Police Investigation Uncovers Grim Details

Responding to the call, personnel from the Minglanilla Police Station swiftly arrived at the scene. Their investigation led them to the mother of the dog approximately 50 meters away from where the head was dropped.

Officers noted alarming signs on the animal: blood stains were still visible around its mouth, and its stomach was noticeably distended. This has led to strong suspicions that the dog may have consumed other parts of the infant's body.

During a clearing operation, police found a duster, an apron, and a towel nearby. These items are believed to have been used to wrap the baby before it was abandoned by the roadside.

Community in Shock, Hunt for Suspects Intensifies

Residents of the area expressed shock and confusion, stating that no one in their community had recently given birth. However, they provided a crucial lead to investigators. Locals reported seeing a pick-up vehicle parked in the area for about half an hour on Sunday, January 4, the day before the grisly discovery.

For now, the infant's head has been laid to rest, buried in the town's public cemetery. The Minglanilla Police are continuing their investigation, which includes a thorough review of CCTV footage from the vicinity to identify the owner of the suspicious pick-up truck, who is considered a possible person of interest in the abandonment of the child.
