Siblings Arrested in Argao Drug Sting, P27K Shabu Seized

Two brothers are now behind bars after a successful anti-drug operation conducted by police in Argao, Cebu. The arrest led to the confiscation of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of nearly thirty thousand pesos.

Police Sting Leads to Arrest

The operation was carried out by the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) of the Argao Police Station on the evening of Monday, January 12, 2026. Acting on prior intelligence regarding illegal drug activities, authorities set up a buy-bust in Barangay Canbanua, Argao City.

An undercover police officer acted as a poseur-buyer and successfully purchased one packet of suspected shabu for P500 from the suspects. This transaction was the signal for the backup team to move in and apprehend the individuals.

Significant Drug Haul Recovered

Upon the arrest and subsequent search of the suspects, law enforcers made a more substantial discovery. Thirty additional packets of the suspected illegal substance were found in their possession.

The total weight of the confiscated drugs was approximately 4 grams. Based on standard valuation, the total estimated street value is P27,200, marking a significant haul for local authorities.

Suspects Face Serious Charges

The arrested individuals were identified only by their aliases: 31-year-old "Berto" and 27-year-old "Jose". Both are unmarried and are residents of the barangay where the operation took place.

They are currently detained at the Argao Police Station while awaiting the formal filing of charges. The siblings will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, a serious non-bailable offense.

This operation underscores the continued vigilance of local police units in combating the proliferation of illegal drugs within their communities.
