Police Apprehend Suspect in Horrific Manila Dismemberment Case
In a significant breakthrough, authorities in Pasay City have arrested one of the alleged perpetrators involved in the gruesome killing and dismemberment of a male victim, whose body parts were discovered inside a blue drum abandoned in Binondo, Manila.
Security Footage Leads to Arrest
During a press conference, Colonel Joselito de Sesto, chief of the Pasay City Police Office, revealed that investigators secured crucial security camera footage from a condominium. The video captured the suspect, identified as a Chinese national, removing the blue drum with assistance from a security guard.
De Sesto detailed that the suspect rented a van to transport and dispose of the drum containing the victim's dismembered remains. He emphasized the chilling scene at the condominium, stating, "We went there last night, and the bloodstains were definitely still there. There was so much blood on the pillow, and there were even what looked like body parts, and the mop had blood on it. They really tried to clean it, but there was still blood there in the master's bedroom."
Unwitting Accomplices and Ongoing Manhunt
The security guard and van driver were reportedly unaware of the drum's macabre contents. "The security guard said he was told that the drum contained soft drinks," De Sesto recounted. Upon learning about the incident through television reports, the van driver voluntarily visited the police station to submit an affidavit.
Police confirmed that another suspect, also a Chinese national, remains at large, and a manhunt is actively underway. Additionally, investigators are still working to identify the victim, whose body was found in the drum.
This arrest marks a critical step in a case that has shocked the local community, with authorities continuing their probe into the motives and full circumstances surrounding this brutal crime.
