The Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) confirmed the arrest on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. The suspect, identified as Sherwin Taman, a 31-year-old resident of Seaside, Sangali village, was captured in a targeted operation driven by police intelligence.

According to the ZCPO report, the arrest took place at approximately 4:19 p.m. on Monday, January 12. The operation culminated in Lower Tungawan village, located in the municipality of Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Details of the Sangali Village Shooting

Police linked Taman to a shooting that occurred two days prior to his arrest. The violent event took place on Sunday, January 11, along the Maria Clara Lorenzo Lobregat highway in Purok 6, Sangali village, Zamboanga City.

The incident resulted in injuries to two individuals. The police have identified one of the victims as Radzmil Kudarat. The other person injured was reported to be a bystander caught in the altercation.
