Major Drug Bust in Lanao del Norte
Law enforcement authorities in Lanao del Norte successfully conducted separate anti-drug operations on Thursday, November 20, 2025, resulting in the arrest of two suspects and the seizure of illegal drugs valued at approximately P149,600.
According to police reports, the operations took place in the towns of Baroy and Maigo, marking another significant step in the province's campaign against illegal substances.
Buy-Bust Operation in Baroy
Police Colonel Leo De Leon Sua, Lanao del Norte police director, confirmed that the first operation occurred around 10:27 a.m. in Purok 1, San Juan village, Baroy.
During a carefully planned buy-bust operation, police apprehended two individuals known by their aliases Jong-Jong, 46, and Emily, 42.
Authorities recovered substantial evidence from the suspects, including approximately 20 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P136,000. Additional items seized included various illegal drug paraphernalia and P500 in marked money used in the operation.
The arrested individuals are currently detained at the Baroy Municipal Police Station, where they are undergoing proper documentation and awaiting further legal proceedings.
Search Warrant in Maigo
In a parallel operation conducted at approximately 2:45 p.m. on the same day, police served a search warrant at the residence of another suspect identified as Penot, 46, in Purok 3, Labuay village, Maigo.
Although Penot was not present during the police operation, law enforcement officials discovered and confiscated approximately two grams of suspected shabu valued at P13,600, along with assorted illegal drug paraphernalia from his residence.
Police Colonel Sua noted that "upon arrival of the warrant servers at the residence of Penot, the subject was not present," indicating that the search proceeded in accordance with legal protocols despite the suspect's absence.
Ongoing Investigation and Community Appeal
The successful operations demonstrate the continued vigilance of Lanao del Norte police in combating the illegal drug trade. Police Colonel Sua emphasized that "the arrest of the suspects and the seizure of suspected shabu underscore our determination to safeguard our communities."
Authorities have launched a manhunt operation to locate and apprehend the fleeing suspect, Penot, who remains at large following the search of his property.
Police officials are urging community members to maintain cooperation and vigilance, emphasizing the importance of public support in achieving their goal of maintaining peace, order, and a drug-free province of Lanao del Norte.
