Speaking before members of the AFP Council of Sergeants Major, President Marcos emphasized the importance of standing together against what he described as "the noise of lies" circulating through false information channels. The President specifically warned against allowing misinformation to create division within the military institution.
"Do not let ourselves be swayed by the noise of lies amid the spread of false information for our disunity. Let us stand for the truth," President Marcos declared during his address to the military leadership.
Recognition of Military Service
The President took the opportunity to express his gratitude to all AFP personnel for their "wholehearted service" to the Filipino people. This recognition came despite what he acknowledged as challenges to unity between the current administration and government troops.
President Marcos outlined his vision for a military that remains steadfast and united in its primary mission of national protection. "In these challenging times, when uncertainty tries to cloud our vision, one truth remains clear: Our republic endures because those who protect it do not falter," he stated with conviction.
Military's Response and Commitment
In response to the President's address, AFP Sergeant Major FCMS Feliciano Lazo provided assurances of the military's professionalism and unity. Lazo confirmed that military personnel "remain highly professional, disciplined, [and] united in purpose" despite external pressures.
The military leader reaffirmed the armed forces' commitment to constitutional principles and their elected commander in chief. "We reaffirm our pledge to the flag, to the constitution and our duly elected commander in chief and that is you," Lazo told President Marcos. "We remain apolitical and fully committed to preserving unity among Filipinos."
Amid ongoing geopolitical tensions, economic challenges, and the rapid spread of fake news, President Marcos encouraged the AFP Council of Sergeants Major to maintain strong positions, lead with integrity, and contribute to building forces where every soldier is empowered to face each challenge effectively.
