President Marcos Jr. Issues Gym Challenge to Critics Amid Health Speculation
In a bold move to counter persistent rumors about his physical condition, President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has openly challenged those alleging he is severely ill to join him for an exercise session. During a press conference held on Monday, April 13, 2026, in Manila, the President made his stance clear, directly addressing the claims that have circulated regarding his health.
A Direct Invitation to Skeptics
Marcos Jr. stated emphatically, "I challenge anyone who are saying that I am sick that they come and exercise with me. We will see who is stronger. Come to the gym with me tignan natin kung sino ang mas malakas magbuhat ng weights." This invitation was not just a rhetorical gesture; it underscored his confidence in his own physical capabilities and served as a rebuttal to what he described as baseless accusations.
Dismissing Rumors as Falsehoods
Further reinforcing his message, the President added, "Kaya mula ngayon, 'yung mga taong yan na nagsabi sainyo na may sakit ako na baldado na ako ngayon alam ninyo puro sinungaling mga yan kaya't sa lahat ng sasabihin ng mga yan kasinungalingan kaya't wag n'yo nang paniwalaan." Translated, this means: "So from now on, those people who told you that I am sick and already disabled—now you know they are all liars. So everything they say is false, so don't believe them anymore." His words were aimed at discrediting the sources of these rumors and urging the public to disregard such claims.
Demonstrating Vigor and Health
To visibly demonstrate his well-being, Marcos Jr. performed jumping jacks upon entering the conference hall. This physical display was a tangible assertion of his fitness, complementing his verbal assurances. He maintained that he is in very good health, specifically addressing past medical issues by noting that his diverticulitis has been completely resolved.
Clarifying His Medical Status
The President also provided clarity on his current health regimen, revealing that he only takes maintenance medicine for gout and high blood pressure. This disclosure was intended to offer transparency while downplaying the severity of any ongoing health concerns, framing them as manageable conditions rather than debilitating illnesses.
Overall, this press conference served as a proactive effort by President Marcos Jr. to quell speculation and present himself as a capable and healthy leader, ready to face both political and physical challenges head-on.
