A newly formed political alliance has launched a bold movement demanding the immediate resignation of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., marking a significant escalation in the country's political landscape.
Coalition Launch and Core Demands
The Save The Philippines Coalition (STPC) formally introduced their movement during a press conference held this morning at Club Filipino in San Juan. The event attracted substantial media attention, with major outlets including GMA and Manila Times covering the announcement alongside numerous bloggers and social media influencers.
The coalition described itself as a voluntary, unified front committed to steering the country toward what they called a "new path" amid multiple crises. Organizers emphasized that the country faces what they characterize as a "grave crisis morally, politically, and economically" that requires immediate action.
At the heart of their demands is the call for President Marcos Jr. to step down immediately, citing "massive bad governance, abuse of power, corruption, and repression" as primary reasons for their movement. The coalition has positioned itself as the vehicle for change that many Filipinos have been waiting for, with observers reportedly viewing it as the "only way to make things happen."
Constitutional Approach and Leadership
The STPC has made clear that their approach remains strictly within constitutional boundaries. They explicitly support constitutional succession, advocating for the Vice President to assume leadership as the "sole and only replacement" should President Marcos Jr. resign.
Interestingly, the coalition traces its origins to former President Rodrigo Duterte's appeal "to save the Republic!" The movement gained formal structure during a General Assembly on November 23, 2025, which saw 515 individuals from diverse sectors and regions unite under a common platform.
The coalition is led by a 31-member National Leading Body, with Atty. Vic Rodriguez, former Executive Secretary, and former Cabinet Secretary Leoncio Evasco serving as co-chairmen. The organization prides itself on promoting "unity in purpose, participation, democratic discussion, building consensus, collective leadership, resource-sharing, and flexibility in action."
Immediate Action Plans
The STPC has outlined an aggressive timeline of activities, beginning with a major public demonstration scheduled for November 30, 2025. Dubbed the "People's Verdict - Marcos Resign Now / Withdraw the Mandate Rally," the event aims to intensify what organizers describe as the continuing withdrawal of public support from the current administration.
Beyond the rally, the coalition plans to expand its membership across all Philippine regions, sectors, and among overseas Filipino communities. They have committed to ongoing public education campaigns about what they term the "true state of the nation" and the necessity of immediate political change.
The movement has also vowed to continue mounting various protest actions to address what they see as legitimate public grievances against corruption, abuse of power, and repression of people's rights. Importantly, the coalition emphasized their commitment to thwarting what they describe as administration lies and deception, as well as opposing any extra-constitutional succession plots proposed by other groups.
As the press conference concluded, STPC representatives affirmed their role as the driving force behind a growing collective demand for political change, setting the stage for what promises to be a significant test of public sentiment during the upcoming November 30 rally.
