Record Comeback
In this contest, the Knicks trailed by 29 points late in the second quarter, 23 points at halftime, and 20 points early in the fourth quarter. However, they never lost hope and eventually posted the largest comeback in NBA Finals history.
During their rally, the Knicks produced numerous impressive and surprising plays, but the most dramatic was the game-winning tip-in shot by OG Anunoby with 1.2 seconds remaining.
Late-Game Drama
After constant chasing, the Knicks took their first lead with 1:22 left, 105-104, following a floating jumper by Jalen Brunson. The Spurs regained the lead, 106-105, on two free throws by Stephon Castle with 30 seconds remaining.
On the ensuing play, the door seemed to open for the Spurs to tie the series, as the Knicks failed to score and veteran Spurs point guard De'Aaron Fox grabbed the ball in the dying seconds. Fox drove for a layup but was blocked by Anunoby with 5.7 seconds left, prompting a Knicks timeout.
