The grassroots fight scene in Davao City is set to explode back into the spotlight as the highly anticipated 2026 Muay X: Fight Series prepares to stage a massive 23-bout card on Saturday, April 18. This electrifying event will take place at the Crossing Bayabas covered court in Toril, Davao City, promising an action-packed showcase of emerging combat sports talent.
Developing Young Fighters for Bigger Arenas
Organized by the Reality Fighting League, the event will feature a diverse mix of kickboxing, muay thai, and mixed martial arts bouts. League president Alma Rhea Alojipan emphasized the promotion's core mission to nurture grassroots talent, particularly focusing on young and beginner fighters who are just entering the sport. "We expose them early and prepare them for bigger arenas," Alojipan stated during the Davao Sportswriters Association Forum at The Annex of SM City Davao on Thursday, April 16, 2026.
She elaborated that this strategy is designed to build confidence and experience among participants, ensuring they are ready for higher-level competitions. Additionally, the league is actively seeking partnerships to support its athletes. "We are also open for partnerships to support our kids for bigger opportunities ahead," she said. "This is part of our aim to promote upcoming fighters as they work toward national and international bouts."

Meanwhile, AEB Montefalcon, owner of Muay-X Muay Thai and Boxing Gym, shared his perspective on what makes a great fighter. He stressed that the most important trait goes beyond mere skill. "Kaisog ra gyud (Just courage)," Montefalcon explained. For him, courage encompasses more than aggression; it reflects a fighter's mindset to confront any opponent, withstand pressure, and persevere through fatigue and pain.
Montefalcon noted that while techniques can be trained and refined, it is courage that enables fighters to apply those skills effectively under intense pressure and continue their development in the sport.

Tickets for the event are priced at ₱500 for ringside seats and ₱300 for VIP access.
