World-ranked Tanzanian boxer Mchanja Yohana has touched down in Bohol, ready to face local favorite Regie Suganob in a highly anticipated flyweight clash this weekend.
International Boxer Arrives Early for Title Fight
Mchanja Yohana and his team landed at Panglao International Airport on Tuesday night, giving the Tanzanian pugilist several days to acclimate before Saturday's main event. The 27-year-old was greeted by PMI Bohol Boxing Promotions head Floriezyl Podot upon arrival.
This marks Yohana's second visit to the Philippines. His first appearance in 2023 ended in disappointment when he lost to former world champion Milan Melindo by unanimous decision in Cebu City.
High-Stakes Showdown at Kumong Bol-anon XXIII
The crucial bout will headline "Kumong Bol-anon XXIII" at the PMI Main Campus Gym in Tagbilaran City on November 22, 2025. Both fighters have everything to gain from this encounter.
Yohana currently holds the WBO Global flyweight title and is ranked No. 8 by the World Boxing Organization in the flyweight division. Since his loss to Melindo, the Tanzanian has compiled an impressive eight-fight winning streak, including a significant victory over Filipino hard-hitter Miel Fajardo.
Local Hero Seeks Redemption
For Regie Suganob, this fight represents a critical opportunity to get back into world title contention. The Bohol native boasts an impressive 16-1 professional record with six knockouts and is currently ranked No. 4 by the WBO and No. 9 by the World Boxing Council.
Suganob earned his first world title shot in 2023 after winning an IBF light-flyweight title eliminator against fellow Filipino Mark Vicelles. However, he fell short in his bid for the IBF strap, losing to defending champion Sivenathi Nontshinga by unanimous decision in South Africa.
Undercard Features Promising Talent
The event also showcases two additional title fights that promise excitement. Undefeated hard-hitter Leonard Pores III (8-0, 7 KOs) will face Cebu-based Japanese contender Kiyoto Narukami (5-1-1, 2 KOs) for the vacant IBF flyweight title.
Meanwhile, Freshler Utrera (4-0, 2 KOs) will battle Cebuano Sherwin Dacullo (4-1-1, 2 KOs) for the vacant Philippine Games and Amusements Board Youth minimumweight belt.
With Yohana owning a 22-6-1 record with 15 knockouts and Suganob fighting in his hometown, the stage is set for an unforgettable night of boxing action in Bohol.
