This preparation kicks off with the National Karate Championships and National Team Selection, scheduled from March 5 to 9, 2026, in Tagaytay City. According to AAK Davao head coach Rommel Tan, who spoke in an exclusive interview with SunStar Davao, this event will be crucial in determining which athletes will earn the honor of representing the Philippines on the international stage across various age categories. In addition to the national championships, AAK Davao is set to host a significant regional tournament on March 28, 2026, in Davao City. Organized by Karate Pilipinas Region 11 under the leadership of AAK Davao, this competition is anticipated to attract elite athletes from throughout the region, further showcasing the club's commitment to fostering local talent. Looking further ahead, the focus will shift to the international arena in May 2026, when the Philippines hosts the Youth League at the Mall of Asia Arena. This global championship for under-17 athletes is projected to bring together more than 3,000 participants from approximately 100 countries, marking it as one of the largest karate events ever held in the nation.
