Carlos Yulo's Brother Qualifies for 4 Gymnastics Finals

Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo has expressed overwhelming pride and joy following his younger brother's remarkable achievement at the international gymnastics stage. Karl Eldrew Yulo secured spots in four different finals during the 3rd Artistic Gymnastics Junior World Championships held on Thursday, November 20, at Marriott Manila in Pasay City.

Brotherly Pride and Support

Carlos Yulo, the celebrated Filipino gymnast who brought home Olympic glory, couldn't contain his happiness as he witnessed his brother's success. "Super nakaka-proud, especially sa high bar, floor din, ang ganda ng pinakita niya," Carlos shared in an interview with GMANews.tv. The champion gymnast emphasized that he had seen firsthand the dedication and hard work his brother put into training.

Carlos particularly highlighted the significance of this experience for his younger sibling, noting that "Sobrang laking bagay po noon para sa kanya na ma-experience 'yun." The emotional support from an older brother who has walked the same path adds a touching family dimension to this sports achievement.

Different Styles, Same Coach

Despite sharing the same coach, Japanese trainer Munehiro Kugimiya, Carlos pointed out that the brothers have distinct approaches to the sport. "Totally different movement and different style talaga," he observed, showcasing the unique talents each brother brings to gymnastics.

Carlos expressed excitement about his brother's future in the sport, stating, "Happy talaga ako dahil siya po 'yung next generation, and hopefully next year po, I'm really excited na makasama siya sa mga competition." This endorsement from an established champion signals promising prospects for the younger Yulo's career.

Future Plans and Sacrifices

Karl Eldrew Yulo revealed his commitment to focusing entirely on gymnastics after completing his senior high school education at Adamson University. "Ito po ang pinakaimportante dahil ang dami ko pong sacrifices these past few years," the young athlete confessed.

He outlined his clear career path, stating, "I also plan to stop after my senior high school to focus on my gymnastics. I have to focus on myself and my career first kaya iniingatan ko rin po ang sarili ko as much as possible." This decision demonstrates the level of dedication required to excel in competitive gymnastics.

The younger Yulo qualified for finals in four prestigious events: individual all-around, floor exercise, vault, and horizontal (high) bar. This multiple qualification showcases his versatility and skill across different gymnastics disciplines, marking him as a rising star in Philippine sports.
