Davao Eagles Girls' Swimming Team Intensifies Training for Palarong Pambansa Debut

The Davao Eagles elementary girls' swimming team is poised for a historic appearance at the upcoming Palarong Pambansa, following weeks of dedicated and intensive preparation. This marks their first foray into national-level competition, with the team setting ambitious goals to secure medals.

Structured Training Program

Davraa elementary girls' swimming assistant coach Reynalyn Ranada Ravanes, who also serves as the Ateneo de Davao University elementary girls swimming coach, highlighted the team's rigorous training regimen. "Our preparations are going well. Together with their trainers, we’ve prepared thoroughly, and we’re ready for the upcoming Palarong Pambansa," she stated. The team adheres to a structured program designed to ensure swimmers achieve peak physical condition.

Training sessions are conducted almost daily, including holidays, demonstrating the athletes' unwavering commitment. "Actually, their training never really stops. Even during holidays, they are very dedicated; they still train every day with their coaches and trainers," Ravanes explained. Each session lasts between two to three hours, with some swimmers opting for double sessions to enhance endurance and speed.

Confidence and Goals

Despite this being their inaugural national competition, the team has clear objectives. "This will be their first time competing in the Palarong Pambansa, but we aim for each of them to win at least one medal," Ravanes said. She emphasized the individual nature of the sport, expecting every swimmer to showcase their full potential. Ravanes expressed confidence in the entire roster, noting that all members earned their spots through merit-based performance.

The team comprises talented swimmers including Cassiel Auvene R. Cabico, Joguylen Thalia M. Sohier, Georgia Summer P. Peñeiro, and Sabina Erin Monella Mabilen. Cabico shared her mixed emotions ahead of the event, stating, "I feel nervous but happy." She will compete in multiple events such as the 200-meter individual medley, 100-meter breaststroke, 100-meter freestyle, 50-meter freestyle, and 50-meter breaststroke.

Lessons from Training

Cabico reflected on the valuable lessons gained from the rigorous training schedule. "Training taught me discipline, built my strength, and gave me pride in representing Region 11," she remarked. This sentiment underscores the team's dedication not only to athletic excellence but also to personal growth and regional pride.

As the Palarong Pambansa approaches, the Davao Eagles elementary girls' swimming team remains focused and determined, ready to make a splash on the national stage with their hard-earned skills and unwavering spirit.
