Japan's Hayashi and Oshima Set to Defend Titles at 33rd Subic International Triathlon

Elite athletes from at least 20 countries are gearing up for the 33rd Subic Bay International Triathlon (SuBIT), scheduled for May 2 and 3, 2026, at the Subic Bay Freeport Zone in Zambales. This prestigious event, recognized as Southeast Asia's oldest and longest-running standard distance race, gains even greater prominence this year as it debuts as the Asia Triathlon Junior Cup Subic Bay.

High-Stakes Competition and International Participation

The two-day competition will feature draft-legal sprint races for Elite and Junior Elite athletes, alongside categories such as Super Trikids, Youth Super Sprint, Sprint, and Standard distances. With ranking points for both World Triathlon and Asia Triathlon on the line, the stakes are higher than ever, attracting top-tier talent from across the globe.

Last year's champions, Japan's Takuto Oshima and Manami Hayashi, are expected to return to defend their titles. Oshima clinched the men's division with a time of 1:50:25, while Hayashi dominated the women's category in 2:04:58. Filipino athletes also made their mark, with Dayshaun Ramos finishing as the top local male at 1:54:03 and Raven Alcoseba leading the women at 2:14:16.

This partnership has been instrumental in elevating the event's status on the international stage.

The competition enjoys support from key organizations, including the Philippine Sports Commission, NTT, Gatorade, Western Guaranty Corporation, C-Vitt, and Subic Bay Travelers Hotel.
