Alex Eala and Zeynep Sonmez failed to advance to the next round of the doubles competition after falling to Taylor Townsend and Katerina Siniakova, 6-1, 7-5, in the Round of 16 of the Madrid Open Doubles held in Spain on Saturday, April 25, 2026.
Eala, who was also earlier eliminated in the singles event, and Sonmez attempted to mount a comeback in the second set through a spirited rally but ultimately could not sustain their momentum. The second-seeded tandem of Townsend and Siniakova secured the decisive victory to move forward to the next stage of the competition.
