Yulo Brother Secures Bronze on Home Soil
In an emotional and thrilling performance, Karl Eldrew Yulo, the younger brother of Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo, has won a bronze medal for the Philippines. The victory came in the floor exercise finals at the 2025 Artistic Gymnastics Junior World Championships, held on November 23, 2025, at the Marriott Grand Ballroom in Pasay City.
A Podium Finish Against Stiff Competition
Yulo delivered a solid routine, earning a final score of 13.733 to secure the third spot on the podium. The gold medal was claimed by China's Yang Lanbin with a score of 13.833, while Italy's Simone Speranza took the silver with a 13.766. The close scores highlighted the intense level of competition at the global junior event.
An Emotional Start to a Promising Journey
Following his medal-winning performance, an overwhelmed Karl Eldrew Yulo shared his feelings. "This is not just any competition. It's emotional, so much," he expressed. He added, "This is only the start of my journey. There will be more disappointments or happiness to come, things like that, so I am very happy." This bronze medal marks a significant milestone for the young gymnast as he follows in the footsteps of his celebrated brother.
The competition is not over for Yulo, who is set to compete again in the vault and horizontal bar finals this Monday, giving him more opportunities to add to the Philippines' medal tally.
