Cebu Pacific (CEB) has announced a partnership with De La Salle - College of Saint Benilde to accommodate deaf students for internship opportunities. The airline made the announcement on Thursday, highlighting a memorandum of agreement signed with the College's School of Deaf Education and Applied Studies (SDEAS).
This initiative aims to provide deaf students with hands-on experience and practical exposure across various aspects of the airline's operations. Felix Lopez, CEB's chief human resources officer, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration. "We're excited to welcome our students from DLS-CSB to Cebu Pacific and learn alongside them. Internships are often a person's first step into the workforce, and we want that experience to be meaningful, supportive, and empowering," he said in a statement.
Lopez added that the airline hopes this partnership will help open more doors for deaf professionals and encourage other organizations to recognize the value that diverse talent brings to the workplace. The SDEAS interns have been assigned to the customer service operations - cabin operations team, where they will support day-to-day functions while gaining insights into the aviation industry.
Each intern is required to complete 360 hours of on-the-job training by August 14, 2026. Prior to the start of the internship, Cebu Pacific employees participated in a deaf awareness session facilitated by SDEAS to ensure a supportive and inclusive environment. This collaboration underscores CEB's commitment to diversity and inclusion, providing meaningful career opportunities for individuals from all backgrounds.
