Driver Arrested for Firing KG9 Submachine Gun in Carcar

A driver who fired his KG9 submachine gun was arrested at 11:45 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2026, in Sitio Danao 2, Barangay Valencia, Carcar City.

The suspect, Jeck Limbert Cortes Abellaneda, 42, married, a resident of the said place, was caught carrying the weapon by responding police officers.

According to the investigation by the Carcar City Police Station, the suspect was reported to have fired his gun after a quarrel with his relatives.

Police information indicated that the family was fighting over a land problem, which caused the suspect to become enraged and fire his weapon.

When the police arrived, they caught him carrying the firearm. When asked for documents for his weapon, he could not produce any, leading to his arrest.

Recovered from his possession were a 9mm KG9 submachine gun, two magazines for the said weapon, and 11 live ammunition rounds.

The suspect will face charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 (Illegal Possession of Firearm and Ammunition).
