DSWD Releases P64.3M in Social Pension for Iloilo, Aklan

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VI has released a total of P36.279 million in social pension funds for 12,093 indigent senior citizens in Iloilo City, while also disbursing P28.011 million to qualified elderly beneficiaries in four municipalities of Aklan. The releases were made under the Social Pension Program for the second quarter of 2026.

Turnover Ceremony in Iloilo City

DSWD Field Office VI Regional Director Joselito G. Estember led the ceremonial turnover of the P36.279 million check to Iloilo City Mayor Raisa Treñas on June 10, 2026. The event underscored the ongoing partnership between the DSWD and the Iloilo City Government to ensure the timely delivery of benefits to indigent senior citizens.

Under the program, each of the 12,093 beneficiaries in Iloilo City will receive P3,000 for the quarter. The total allocation of P36,279,000 covers all qualified social pensioners across the city.

Witnessing the turnover were City Social Welfare and Development Officer Teresa Geologo, Executive Assistant Rosario San Agustin, City Legal Staff Sherwin Ross Silva, Social Pension Unit Head Marien Grace Tamonan, Social Welfare Assistant II Yvanne Gimeno, Regional Executive Assistant Irese Muyana, and Project Development Officer I Rachind Hernandez.

DSWD-LGU Collaboration

The DSWD emphasized that the fund turnover is part of its continuing collaboration with local governments to ensure the prompt delivery of social pension benefits. The program aims to help indigent senior citizens address their daily needs and improve their quality of life.

Social Pension Payouts in Aklan

In addition to Iloilo City, DSWD Field Office VI released a combined P28,011,000 in social pension benefits to eligible indigent senior citizens in four Aklan municipalities. The breakdown is as follows:

  • Altavas: P7,713,000
  • Balete: P7,059,000
  • Batan: P6,600,000
  • Makato: P6,639,000

The payout activities were conducted in coordination with the respective local government units, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Offices, and Municipal Treasurer’s Offices to ensure orderly distribution.

Monitoring the distribution were Project Development Officer I Alyssa Dario, Social Welfare Assistant Rosalyn Laurente, Edmond C. Montoya, and Dianne Christine V. Nicolas.

DSWD Field Office VI noted that the coordinated efforts of national and local government agencies facilitated the efficient release of financial assistance to indigent senior citizens in the four municipalities.
