The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Manila has issued an official statement regarding the death of Divine Adili, a Nigerian student-athlete and basketball player at Ateneo de Manila University.

According to the embassy, they are directly coordinating with the family of the deceased, the administration of Ateneo, law enforcement agencies, and other relevant authorities. Aside from Divine, Rene Baterbonia, a native of Agusan, also died in the incident.

The family of Adili has requested that an autopsy be conducted before finalizing the repatriation of his remains to Nigeria. The embassy added that their coordination is focused on providing support to the family and ensuring that all necessary processes are properly carried out.
