ML Cares Transforms Little Baguio Elementary with Holistic School Upgrade
ML Cares Foundation Completes School Revitalization in South Cotabato

A quiet revolution in education is unfolding at Little Baguio Elementary School in Barangay El Nonok, Banga, South Cotabato. The school, once hampered by fundamental challenges, now buzzes with a renewed sense of possibility, thanks to a comprehensive community initiative spearheaded by the ML Cares Foundation with support from M Lhuillier.

A Foundation for Health and Dignity

The cornerstone of this transformation is a newly built, gender-responsive comfort room and handwashing station. For the young learners, especially girls, this development is life-changing. The previous lack of adequate, private sanitation facilities was a silent but significant barrier to regular school attendance. With this new infrastructure, that barrier has been dismantled, ensuring all students can attend school with dignity and comfort.

Complementing the new facilities was a crucial Basic Personal Hygiene Education and Training session. Here, students learned the vital practices of proper handwashing, personal cleanliness, and disease prevention. This knowledge empowers them to make healthier choices, potentially reducing illness and subsequent absences from class.

Empowering Students and Educators Alike

Understanding that learning requires tools, the foundation provided direct support to every student. Each child received a school bag filled with essential supplies: notebooks, pens, and a comprehensive hygiene kit containing soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, and other personal care items. This gesture alleviates a tangible financial burden for families managing tight budgets, removing a common obstacle to consistent education.

The initiative also recognized the critical role of teachers. To enhance their efficiency and teaching capacity, a new desktop computer and printer were donated. This technology enables educators to prepare lessons, create materials, and manage administrative tasks more effectively, directly contributing to a higher quality of instruction for their students.

The Power of a Holistic Approach

What distinguishes this project is its integrated strategy. It acknowledges that challenges like poor sanitation, lack of supplies, and limited teaching tools are interconnected and must be addressed together to create sustainable improvement. By tackling these issues simultaneously in January 2026, ML Cares has laid the groundwork for enduring progress rather than offering a temporary fix.

This project stands as a model of genuine corporate social responsibility, one that listens to and acts on the specific needs of a community. The investment at Little Baguio Elementary School is an investment in the future of its students. Now, equipped with better facilities, essential knowledge, and improved resources, both teachers and pupils can fully focus on their primary mission: achieving excellence in education.
