Seven people died after a tricycle and a sports utility vehicle (SUV) collided in San Juan, Batangas. According to the investigation, the SUV suddenly swerved into the lane of the tricycle, which was fully loaded with passengers. The impact caused the passengers to be thrown several meters. Some passengers were then run over by coaster buses following behind the SUV.
Police Report
San Juan PNP chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Crispin Banes stated that the tricycle was crushed due to the violent collision. Five passengers were declared dead on arrival, while two others died hours later while in the hospital. A two-year-old child, the sole survivor, is receiving medical treatment.
Legal Action
The female driver of the SUV is currently in police custody and faces multiple charges. The driver of the coaster bus that ran over the passengers will also face appropriate charges.
