DMW Honors OFWs as Symbols of Courage, Diligence, Hope on Independence Day
DMW: OFWs Are Living Symbols of Courage, Diligence, Hope

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) recognized overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) as living symbols of courage, diligence, and hope during the celebration of the 128th anniversary of Philippine Independence Day on Friday, June 12.

In a video message, Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cadac emphasized that OFWs showcase the excellence, compassion, discipline, and dignity of the Filipino race in every field. The secretary also acknowledged the sacrifices and patriotism of heroes and all Filipinos who gave their lives to achieve the freedom currently enjoyed.

Their example, he said, continues to remind us that freedom is not only part of history but also a responsibility that must be lived, protected, and passed on to the next generation. Cadac also highlighted the importance of this year's Independence Day theme: the nation will become stronger if the lessons of the past are not forgotten.

According to him, true freedom is living with dignity, working with purpose, and dreaming without fear. This is the kind of freedom they want every youth, family, and OFW to feel—those who continue to strive and sacrifice to provide a better future for their loved ones.

In connection with this, Sec. Cadac assured that they will live out this freedom by protecting the welfare, rights, and dignity of OFWs.
