A fisherman who used dynamite was arrested after homemade explosives were seized during an entrapment operation at 3:27 a.m. on Friday, June 12, 2026, in Purok 7, Barangay Hingotanan East, Bien Unido, Bohol.
Suspect Identified
The suspect was identified as Donald Rabanos, alias Dondi, 43, a resident of the same area.
Items Seized
Confiscated from him were three homemade dynamites, packages believed to contain ammonium nitrate used in making explosives weighing 10.5 kilograms, with an estimated value of P8,400. Also seized was buy-bust money amounting to P400.
Members of the Provincial Intelligence Unit of the Bohol Police Provincial Office, assisted by the Provincial Mobile Force Company Bohol, Maritime Police, Naval Forces Central, and Bien Unido Municipal Police Station, conducted the joint operation.
The police in Bohol province initially received information about the suspect selling dynamite, leading to the entrapment operation.

The success was praised by Police Colonel Patricio Degay Jr., chief of the Bohol police. “This success is proof that the PNP Bohol has no hesitation in enforcing the law in any aspect. Along with our duty to maintain peace and order in the community, we also give great importance to protecting and nurturing the environment through efficient enforcement of environmental laws,” Degay said.
Degay said this serves as a lesson to fishermen not to attempt to break the law because the police will not allow it to be abused.
The suspect is currently in the custody of the Bien Unido Municipal Police Station and is being prepared for charges of violating Sections 3 and 4 of Presidential Decree 1866, as amended by Sections 1 and 2 of Republic Act 9516, or the Unlawful Manufacture, Sale, Acquisition, Disposition, Importation, or Possession of Explosive or Incendiary Devices.
