Mandaue City Donates P1M to General Santos After Earthquake
Mandaue Gives P1M to General Santos for Earthquake Relief

The Mandaue City Government has extended P1 million in financial assistance to the General Santos City Government following a recent earthquake, according to Mayor Thadeo Jovito Ouano on June 12, 2026.

Gratitude and Solidarity

Ouano stated that the aid is a gesture of gratitude and solidarity, emphasizing that General Santos City had previously helped Mandaue during times of hardship. The city is now awaiting the release of the check and hopes to complete the turnover within the next two weeks, either through the mayor or a designated city official.

Intensified Earthquake Preparedness

Concurrently, Mandaue is strengthening its own earthquake preparedness by directing the City Engineering Office, Office of the Building Official (OBO), City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, and the Department of Education to reassess the structural integrity of schools, government facilities, and public markets.
