BACOLOD. The Bacolod City Government turned over 10 new electric vehicles to the Bacolod City Police Office on April 27, 2026. The ceremony took place at the Bacolod City Government Center, led by Mayor Greg Gasataya, Brigadier General Arnold Thomas Ibay, and Colonel Eugene Rebadomia.
Modernizing Police Operations
Mayor Gasataya emphasized that the electric vehicles will be deployed across all 10 police stations in Bacolod City. He stated that transitioning to an electric fleet modernizes peace and order operations while reducing fuel costs amid the global crisis. The city allocated PHP 14 million for the EVs to enhance police visibility, improve response times, and boost operational efficiency.
Vehicle Specifications
Each electric vehicle delivers 201 horsepower and a maximum driving range of up to 490 kilometers. Powered by a 63.2 kWh battery, the vehicles can be fully charged within five to seven hours, sufficient for a full day of patrol operations. Safety features include 360-degree cameras, sensors, keyless entry, front and side curtain airbags, and AC/DC charging capability.
Support from Regional Police
The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region expressed gratitude for the city's support. Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong, PRO-NIR Public Information Office chief, noted that the modern electric vehicles will significantly enhance police visibility, strengthen patrol efficiency, and ensure faster response to incidents. She affirmed the commitment to maximize the use of these assets for crime prevention and public trust.
The blessing and turnover ceremony highlighted the strong collaboration between local government and law enforcement, contributing to safer communities. With these assets, the BCPO is better equipped to uphold the rule of law and respond promptly to threats, advancing a secure and sustainable future.
