ICC to Review Drug War Victims' Applications for Trial Participation vs Duterte
ICC Reviews Victims' Applications in Duterte Trial

The International Criminal Court (ICC) is expected to review anew the applications of victims of the bloody drug war who wish to participate in the trial against former President Rodrigo Duterte. This follows the international tribunal's final confirmation of the case against the former leader, paving the way for the trial to proceed.

New Deadline for Applications

According to the ICC, it will release a new deadline for the relatives of victims to file their applications while the case is already at the trial stage. Applications that fall outside the scope of the case will be submitted to the Trial Chamber for a fresh evaluation.

Previous Authorization

Earlier, the ICC Pre-Trial Chamber I authorized up to 539 victims to participate in the upcoming trial. However, the court previously clarified that this does not mean the victims will testify in the ongoing proceedings against the former Philippine leader.
