Angeles City Kicks Off National Arts Month Celebration

Angeles City Inaugurates National Arts Month with Cultural Festival

The local government of Angeles City officially launched its National Arts Month celebration on Monday, February 2, at Plaza Angel, marking the beginning of a month-long series of arts and culture activities. The opening program, titled “Pupul ning Kalalangan: Katutuan at Tépangan,” was organized by the Angeles City Culture and Arts Council (ACCAC) and drew a diverse crowd of local artists, cultural workers, students, and community members.

Promoting Cultural Appreciation and Heritage

ACCAC Head Herminia Pamintuan emphasized that the celebration aims to foster cultural appreciation and inclusive artistic expression among Angeleños. She highlighted the vital role of the arts in preserving heritage and strengthening local identity, noting that the city remains committed to supporting initiatives that sustain cultural development. This event aligns with National Arts Month, observed every February under Presidential Proclamation No. 683, signed in 1991, and led by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).

Officials and Performances Highlight Opening Day

The opening ceremony was attended by key city officials, including Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II, Vice Mayor Amos Rivera, and City Tourism Officer Louie Lazatin, along with city department heads, cultural groups, and members of the local creative sector. Department of Tourism Region III Director Richard Daemos spoke at the event, underscoring the role of artists in reflecting social realities and preserving collective memory. He encouraged the public to view art as an integral part of everyday life and community development.

Performances by Teatro Angeleño, the CCA Rondalla, and the CCA Dance Troupe added a dynamic and engaging element to the celebration, showcasing local talent and artistic diversity.
