Official Replica of Jesus Nazareno Image Set for Los Angeles Journey in 2025

The iconic image of the Jesus Nazareno, a symbol of deep Catholic faith in the Philippines, is poised to extend its spiritual reach internationally. In a significant move, an official replica of this revered statue will be transported to Los Angeles, United States, in March 2025. This initiative highlights the enduring devotion to the Jesus Nazareno beyond Philippine shores, fostering cultural and religious connections among Filipino communities abroad.

Formal Agreement Signed at Quiapo Church

According to a social media announcement by the Holy Family Catholic Church in Artesia, Los Angeles, the process began on January 25, 2026. Pastor Fr. John Cordero visited the National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno in Quiapo, Manila, commonly known as Quiapo Church, to formalize the reception. A memorandum of agreement was signed between Fr. Cordero and Fr. Jade Licuanan, the Rector of the National Shrine, solidifying the arrangement for the Holy Family Church to receive the replica on behalf of the Filipino Ministry of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.

The church stated that this transfer is part of the shrine's worldwide outreach efforts, aiming to share the spiritual significance of the Jesus Nazareno with a broader audience. The replica is scheduled to be shipped by air to Los Angeles very soon, marking a pivotal moment in the global dissemination of Filipino religious traditions.

Welcoming Ceremony and Historical Context

Upon its arrival, the Jesus Nazareno image will be welcomed with a Holy Mass on February 14, to be presided over by Balanga Bishop Rufino Sescon. Notably, Bishop Sescon served as the immediate past rector of the National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno, adding a layer of historical continuity and reverence to the event. This ceremony is expected to draw devotees and community members, celebrating the fusion of faith and heritage.

The decision to bring the replica to Los Angeles comes amid a backdrop of immense local devotion in the Philippines. Early January saw Quiapo Church host a staggering 9,640,290 devotees for the annual feast of the Jesus Nazareno, underscoring its profound impact. This move not only honors that tradition but also aims to inspire similar fervor among Filipinos and others in the United States, promoting unity and spiritual growth across borders.
