The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has successfully rescued 21 victims of human trafficking in a targeted operation conducted in Mabalacat City, Pampanga. This significant rescue effort was announced on Tuesday, highlighting the ongoing fight against human trafficking in the region.
Coordinated Raid Leads to Arrests and Rescues
In a coordinated effort, personnel from the NBI-Tarlac District Office (NBI-TARDO), NBI-Pampanga District Office (NBI-PAMDO), and the Mabalacat City Social Development Office executed a raid on a KTV bar located in the Mabiga area. During this operation, authorities uncovered compelling evidence indicating that women were being exploited for sexual activities in exchange for money.
Three Suspects Apprehended
The NBI confirmed the arrest of three individuals connected to the illegal activities at the establishment. Those taken into custody include the bar owner, the floor manager, and the cashier. All three face charges for violating Republic Act No. 9208, also known as the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003, as amended by R.A. No. 10364.
This law is designed to combat human trafficking and protect victims from exploitation, with severe penalties for those found guilty of such offenses.
