5 Palestinians Killed in Gaza Airstrike, Israel Cites Truce Breach

An Israeli airstrike on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, resulted in the deaths of at least five Palestinians in the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis. The strike targeted a tent sheltering displaced individuals, according to local authorities.

Tent Shelter Struck in Al-Mawasi

The attack occurred in the Al-Mawasi area, located west of Khan Younis. Gaza's Civil Defense spokesperson, Mahmoud Basal, confirmed that the airstrike directly hit the tent, killing all five people inside. Emergency crews transported the victims' bodies to the nearby Kuwaiti Field Hospital for processing.

Israel Cites Ceasefire Violation

The Israeli military has not issued an official statement regarding this specific incident. However, Israel's Channel 12 reported that the Israeli Air Force conducted strikes across the Gaza Strip. The military action was described as a response to a breach of the ceasefire agreement. This development threatens the fragile truce in the region.

Earlier Clash in Rafah

Earlier on the same Wednesday, the Israeli military reported a separate clash in eastern Rafah. Five Israeli soldiers were wounded during an engagement with militants who emerged from an underground tunnel. A preliminary investigation stated that troops shot and killed two militants who approached their position.

Shortly after that incident, a third, unidentified man planted an explosive device on an armored vehicle before fleeing the scene. Israel's public broadcaster KAN added that Palestinian militants remain entrenched within the tunnel network in Rafah, where Israeli forces are continuing operations to apprehend them.

The situation underscores the ongoing volatility and complex military challenges in the Gaza Strip, where civilian areas and militant infrastructure are often in close proximity.
