DMW Successfully Brings Home Over 6,000 Filipinos Amid Middle East Crisis

In a significant humanitarian effort, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has repatriated more than 6,000 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their dependents from the crisis-torn Middle East in just over a month since the conflict began. Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac announced this achievement during a press conference, highlighting the ongoing commitment to ensure the safety of Filipinos abroad.

Repatriation Numbers and Breakdown

According to Secretary Cacdac, a total of 6,366 individuals have been brought home between March 5 and April 17. This figure includes 5,023 OFWs and 1,343 dependents, demonstrating the department's comprehensive approach to family reunification and welfare. Cacdac emphasized that repatriation efforts are continuing, with more expected in the coming week.

The breakdown per country reveals the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as the source of the highest number of repatriations, with 1,889 OFWs and 853 dependents. Following closely are Kuwait with 1,064 OFWs and 89 dependents, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) with 890 OFWs and one dependent.
