The DMW revealed that its Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Lebanon is actively collaborating with local authorities to ensure a comprehensive investigation into the incident. The department stressed that every effort is being made to hold those responsible accountable under the law.

Details of the Tragic Incident

The fatal event occurred on April 15, 2026, during a hostage situation in Beirut. The two OFWs, who were employed as household service workers (HSWs), were fatally shot by their long-time employer. According to the DMW, both victims had been working in the residence for an extended period, highlighting the shocking nature of the attack.

In response to this tragedy, Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac has directed the provision of immediate assistance to the families of the deceased OFWs.
