The Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Jeddah has made a firm commitment to seek justice and extend comprehensive assistance to three overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who were victims of a devastating hit-and-run incident in Tabuk City, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). In an official statement, the office emphasized its unwavering support for the affected individuals, all of whom are employed as nurses at a major clinic in the city.

Immediate Response and Assistance Efforts

Following the tragic event, MWO-Jeddah acted swiftly by dispatching a dedicated team to Tabuk City. This team is actively providing assistance to the victims at the hospital, coordinating with local police authorities, and engaging with their employer to ensure proper support mechanisms are in place. "Agad nagpadala ang MWO-Jeddah ng team sa Tabuk para mag-assist sa mga biktima sa ospital, pulis, at sa employer. Naipaalam na natin sa mga kaanak ng biktima sa Pilipinas ang nangyari," stated MWO-Jeddah, highlighting that the families of the victims in the Philippines have been promptly informed about the incident.

Details of the Hit-and-Run Incident

The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, February 2, 2026, when the three Filipino nurses were crossing the highway in front of the Tabuk Park Mall while on their way home. According to eyewitness accounts, they were struck by a speeding vehicle. Tragically, one Filipina nurse lost her life, while the other two sustained serious injuries. The suspect attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended by other motorists and is currently detained in jail.

The victims were rushed via ambulance to the King Khalid Civilian Hospital while unconscious. "Ang dalawa ay nagising at nagkamalay ngayong araw na ito, subalit ang isa ay hindi katanggap-tanggap na siya ay pumanaw na pagdating sa ospital," the statement revealed, noting that two of the injured have regained consciousness, but one was declared dead upon arrival at the medical facility.

Ongoing Medical Care and Justice Pursuit

In addition to the immediate response, MWO-Jeddah announced that one of the two injured OFWs will be transferred to Riyadh to undergo necessary surgery, underscoring the severity of their condition. The office also called for prayers for their recovery, stating, "Ipagdasal po natin na gumaling ang dalawang seriously injured."

Moreover, MWO-Jeddah is closely monitoring the legal proceedings related to the case. "Nakatutok po ang MWO sa kaso at mag-aassist sa ika-lulutas nito para mabigyan ng hustisya ang ating mga kababayan," the office assured, reaffirming its dedication to ensuring that justice is served for the Filipino community affected by this heartbreaking event.
