Police Intensify Probe After Series of School Bomb Threats

The Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO 6) has significantly ramped up its investigation into a wave of bomb threats that have targeted multiple schools across the region over the past three days. These threats have forced the suspension of classes and triggered extensive clearing operations by security forces.

According to PRO 6, no explosive devices have been discovered during any of the searches conducted at the reported locations. The primary impact has been widespread disruption and fear within the community.

Coordinated Response and Reward for Information

Police Brigadier General Josefino Ligan, the regional director of PRO 6, stated on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, that these incidents were deliberate attempts to “create panic and disturb public order.”

To combat the threats, a multi-agency effort is underway. General Ligan confirmed that the police are working closely with:

  • Local Government Units
  • School Institutions
  • The National Telecommunications Commission in Western Visayas
  • The Department of Information and Communications Technology in Western Visayas

The goal of this collaboration is twofold: to identify the source of the threats and to strengthen security response protocols. In a significant move to generate leads, a reward of P200,000 has been announced for any information that can help identify the individuals responsible.

Security Measures and Public Advisory

PRO 6 has fully deployed its Regional Explosive Canine Unit (Recu 6) to all affected schools to conduct thorough safety checks and clearing operations since the first report came in.

Internally, General Ligan has convened meetings to refine operational strategies. Furthermore, the Recu 6 is scheduled to conduct specialized bomb threat awareness orientations for school security managers to enhance preparedness across educational institutions.

The police are urging the public to remain calm but vigilant. Schools are encouraged to tighten their internal security measures and maintain constant communication with law enforcement authorities.

PRO 6 issued a stern reminder that issuing bomb threats – whether real or a hoax – is a serious criminal offense under the law, punishable by up to five years of imprisonment, a fine of up to P40,000, or both.

The Iloilo City and Provincial Governments have actively responded to the recent threats, which led to class suspensions and emergency measures. PRO 6 has assured the public that it will continue to implement all necessary measures to ensure the safety and security of Western Visayas.
