Malacanang Dismisses Destabilization Reports, Urges Probe
Malacanang Dismisses Destabilization Reports

Malacañang has downplayed reports of an alleged destabilization plot involving retired military officials, while urging security agencies to investigate if evidence emerges. Palace Press Officer Claire Castro stated that claims of recruitment activities within the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) aimed at overthrowing the government are not new.

"That has been news for a long time; they have long wanted to destabilize our President, that is not new," Castro said. The Palace statement came after Senator Panfilo Lacson revealed alleged moves by some retired officials to "grab power" amid ongoing political tensions in the country.

"If this can be proven... you don't need to be ordered, go ahead and investigate," Castro added.
