Trillanes Claims Duterte Family Received PHP181M from Alleged Drug Lord
Trillanes: Duterte Family Got PHP181M from Drug Lord

Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV has claimed that the Duterte family received approximately PHP181,653,487.36 from alleged drug lord Samuel Uy. During the resumption of the impeachment hearings against Vice President Sara Duterte by the House Committee on Justice on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, Trillanes submitted an affidavit detailing the alleged hidden wealth of the clan.

The affidavit covers former President Rodrigo Duterte (FPRRD), Vice President Sara Duterte and her husband lawyer Manases Carpio, Davao City First District Representative Paolo “Pulong” Duterte, Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte, FPRRD’s common-law wife Cielito “Honeylet” Avanceña, and their daughter Veronica “Kitty” Duterte.

Trillanes stated that in April 2016, his office received information from a certain Joseph de Mesa about hidden accounts of the Dutertes that were not declared in their Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN). De Mesa reportedly obtained the documents from a relative working in a government agency investigating ill-gotten wealth of officials.

Based on the documents, FPRRD and Sara had existing bank accounts at Bank of the Philippine Islands Pasig and Greenhills branches and Banco de Oro’s Mandaluyong branch. Trillanes said further research showed a total of PHP2,407,272,103.75 flowed through these accounts from 2003 to 2016.

“Aside from the documents related to the accounts of Rodrigo Duterte, Mr. De Mesa also gave me documents showing the bank accounts and bank transactions of Rodrigo Duterte’s children, son-in-law, and common-law wife,” Trillanes said. He added that based on the records, total transactions into Sara Duterte’s accounts, including joint accounts with her husband and family members, amounted to PHP111,634,144.05 as of April 2016.

Here is the breakdown of the amount each member of the Duterte family allegedly received from Uy, according to Trillanes:

  • FPRRD – PHP15,656,692.14
  • VP Sara Duterte – PHP22,322,538.22
  • Sebastian Duterte – PHP51,582,958.80
  • Paolo Duterte – PHP38,814,437.39
  • Honeylet Avanceña/Veronica Duterte – PHP53,276,860.55

Mamamayang Liberal Party-list Representative Leila de Lima cross-checked the bank transactions with the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) representatives present during the hearing. Out of 18 randomly selected transactions provided by Trillanes involving accounts of the Dutertes, particularly FPRRD and Sara, the AMLC confirmed 18 similar transactions based on covered and suspicious transaction reports on several accounts linked to Vice President Sara Duterte and her husband Manases Carpio.

Trillanes accused Sara Duterte of involvement in corruption even before entering politics, claiming she has ill-gotten wealth, has not truthfully declared her assets in her SALNs, and that she and her family benefited from illegal drug operations.
