House Young Guns Rally Behind Marcos' Automatic Electricity Subsidy Initiative
The House Young Guns, a coalition of influential lawmakers, has declared its unwavering support for President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s revamped Lifeline Rate Subsidy Program (LRSP). This legislative group includes prominent figures such as Deputy Speaker Paolo Ortega, Deputy Speaker Jay Khonghun, Congressman Zia Alonto Adiong, and Congressman Ernix Dionisio.
Streamlined Assistance for Vulnerable Households
Under the newly implemented policy, eligible families registered with the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) will automatically receive free electricity for their first 50 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of monthly consumption. This significant reform eliminates the need for beneficiaries to undergo lengthy application processes or bureaucratic hurdles to access the subsidy.
The lawmakers emphasized that this automatic provision aims to accelerate and simplify aid distribution to impoverished and marginalized sectors across the nation. They highlighted how this approach directly addresses the financial burdens faced by struggling families grappling with high electricity bills.
Immediate Relief for Registered Beneficiaries
According to the House Young Guns, this policy represents substantial relief for 4Ps-enrolled households, as they will seamlessly receive benefits through their existing registration. The coalition stressed that this automatic mechanism ensures timely support without additional administrative barriers.
Furthermore, the legislators have issued a call to action for relevant government agencies, including the Department of Energy and various electric cooperatives. They urged these entities to guarantee efficient and prompt implementation of the program to maximize its impact on target communities.
The House Young Guns' endorsement underscores bipartisan recognition of the program's potential to alleviate energy poverty. This development marks a crucial step in social welfare reform, demonstrating legislative-executive collaboration in addressing pressing economic challenges faced by disadvantaged Filipinos.
