Police arrested nine enforcers of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in the Caraga Region during an entrapment operation in Barangay Alubijid, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte on Thursday.
According to authorities, the enforcers were caught allegedly extorting money from motorists and travelers during their roadside operations. The operation was conducted following complaints from affected motorists about the alleged modus operandi of LTO personnel.
The LTO Central Office stated that it has long been receiving complaints against some personnel regarding the solicitation of money from motorists during inspections and apprehension of traffic law violators.
Authorities continue to investigate to determine the extent of the operation and identify other possible individuals involved in such activities.
