The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has assured that the evidence against Herminio “Harry” Roque Jr., Mylah Reyes Roque, and Percival Sazon Ortega is solid. According to the investigation, they failed to file tax returns and pay taxes on the transfer of shares and increase in capital stock of Biancham Holdings and Trading, Inc. The estimated tax deficiency, including surcharges and interest, exceeds P3.35 million. The BIR found probable cause to charge them under Sections 254 and 255 of the Tax Code.
Separate Cases Filed
A separate case was also filed against Terjonan Transport Company Inc. and its officers for non-payment of VAT amounting to P9.178 million. Additionally, Niefel Mae Heria Demonteverde was charged for failing to pay P8.44 million in delinquent tax liabilities.
BIR's RATE Program
Commissioner Charlito Martin R. Mendoza stated that these cases are part of the intensified implementation of the Run After Tax Evaders (RATE) program of the BIR. The agency remains committed to pursuing tax evaders and ensuring compliance with tax laws.
