A boarding house caretaker is now in police custody after his 25-year-old tenant accused him of sexual molestation during the early hours of Thursday in Cebu City.

The Early Morning Assault

The incident occurred around 3:00 AM on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at the Ybañez Compound in Barangay Mambaling. According to investigations conducted by the Mambaling Police Station, the victim was sleeping in her room when the suspect, identified as alias Harold, 35, entered without permission.

Police reports indicate that the caretaker first touched the private parts of the sleeping woman. Not satisfied with this violation, he then proceeded to move his hand downward, removed the victim's underwear, and inserted his finger into her private parts.

Victim's Awakening and Escape

The assault triggered the victim's awakening from sleep. Upon realizing what was happening, the 25-year-old woman immediately fought back, springing from her bed and struggling against her attacker.

She managed to break free from the suspect and rushed to seek help from neighbors who responded promptly to her distress calls. The quick response from community members led to the suspect's apprehension at the scene.

Police Action and Legal Consequences

Mambaling police officers took alias Harold into custody and brought him to the Mambaling Police Station for processing. Authorities have confirmed they are filing a rape case (pagpanglugos) against the suspect based on the victim's statement and initial evidence gathered.

The case highlights ongoing concerns about safety in boarding establishments and the vulnerability of tenants. Police have reminded the public to verify the background of caretakers and report any suspicious activities immediately.
