Caritas Philippines Mobilizes for Second Anti-Corruption Protest

The humanitarian and development agency of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines, Caritas Philippines, announced its focus on the upcoming Trillion Peso March sequel scheduled for November 30, 2025. The mass gathering is set to take place at the People Power Monument in Quezon City, continuing the public's denunciation of corruption.

A Unified Call for Justice and Transparency

In a social media statement, Caritas Philippines President Bishop Jose Colin Bagaforo called for unity, urging Filipinos to join the movement with one voice and one message. "With one voice and one message, let us continue to denounce corruption and demand justice, transparency, and accountability," Bagaforo declared. He emphasized that "Filipinos will no longer stay silent against corruption" and encouraged everyone to participate in the growing movement.

This event follows the first successful Trillion Peso March held on September 21, which protested anomalous flood control projects. The forthcoming rally on November 30 is being organized by a coalition of various sectors and religious organizations, signaling sustained public pressure.

Clarification on Separate Iglesia ni Cristo Rally

Bishop Bagaforo took the opportunity to clearly distance Caritas Philippines from a separate protest organized by the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC). He explicitly denied any involvement or endorsement of the INC's "Rally for Transparency and a Better Democracy," which is scheduled for November 16 to 18 at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila.

"Caritas Philippines categorically clarifies that we are not involved in, nor do we endorse, any rally or public gathering reportedly scheduled for November 16 to 18, 2025," Bagaforo stated. The INC event is expected to draw over 300,000 attendees daily during its three-day run.

By focusing on the November 30 march, Caritas Philippines aims to consolidate efforts against corruption, demanding greater government accountability and transparency in the use of public funds.
