Contractor Curlee Discaya has filed a petition for bail in court as a step to secure temporary freedom while his case is being heard, his lawyer confirmed on Friday. The case involves alleged anomalous flood control projects in Bulacan.
Lawyer confirms bail petition
Atty. Cornelio Samaniego III, Discaya's lawyer, said in an interview that the defense can still file a petition for bail even if the case is considered non-bailable. According to the lawyer, the court will still examine whether the evidence against the accused is strong enough before deciding on bail eligibility.
Arrest and charges
Discaya was arrested on June 8, 2026, after being charged with malversation of public funds through falsification of documents related to allegedly anomalous implementation of several flood control projects in Bulacan. He is currently detained at the Bulacan Provincial Jail in Malolos City along with other individuals involved in the case.
